Instytut Historyczny Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego oraz Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich zapraszają do udziału w międzynarodowej konferencji poświęconej problematyce pogromów Żydów na ziemiach polskich w XIX i XX wieku. Konferencja, organizowana w ramach projektu Pogromy. Przemoc kolektywna wobec Żydów na ziemiach polskich w XIX i XX wieku oraz jej wpływ na relacje polsko-żydowskie. Historia, pamięć, tożsamość, finansowanego przez Narodowy Program Rozwoju Humanistyki, odbędzie się w Warszawie w dniach 10-12 czerwca 2015 roku. Dyskusje będą się koncentrowały na następujących zagadnieniach:
- społeczne i polityczne problemy związane z przebiegiem pogromów i recepcją wiedzy o nich
- wpływ pogromów na relacje społeczne i polityczne
- refleksja metodologiczna i źródłoznawcza w badaniach nad pogromami
- pogromy w literaturze i sztuce – reprezentacje
- studia przypadków poszczególnych pogromów.
Interdyscyplinarna refleksja nad tymi zagadnieniami pozwoli nie tylko zaprezentować wyniki prac zespołu badawczego, lecz także rozszerzyć spektrum podjętych problemów.
Języki konferencji to angielski, polski i rosyjski. Organizatorzy, w miarę możliwości, zapewnią bazę noclegową w Warszawie.

The Institute of History of the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies, University College London, and the Institute for the History of Polish Jewry and Israel-Poland Relations, The Goldstein – Goren Diaspora Research Center, Tel Aviv University is conducting an ongoing research project, Pogroms: Collective Anti-Jewish Violence in the Polish Lands in the 19th and 20th Centuries and Its Impact on Polish-Jewish Relations. History, Memory, Identity. The project is financed by a research grant from the National Program for the Development of Humanities, Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
In connection with this project, the Institute of History and POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews are currently inviting scholars to an international academic conference devoted to pogroms in the Polish lands in the 19th and 20th centuries. The conference will be held on June 10–12, 2015 in Warsaw, Poland. Discussion will focus on the following issues:
- social and political problems connected with the pogroms,
- the reception of research on this topic
- the influence of pogroms on social and political relations
- methodology and sources in research on pogroms
- representations of pogroms in literature and the arts
- case studies of specific pogroms.
Through this interdisciplinary approach we will present the findings of the researchers involved in the project. The conference will also expand the spectrum of the research problems examined by inviting other scholars specializing in the history of pogroms, and stimulate discussion in this field.
The languages of the conference will be English, Polish, and Russian. If possible, the organisers, will provide accommodation in Warsaw.
